speech of King Benjamin and it's broken

into two chunks so King Benjamin's address is in Mosiah 1 through 6 but this

podcast is going to be covering the sections of Mosiah 1 through 3 and so Bryce why don't you talk a little bit about what King Benjamin's trying to do in this speech

The whole point of King Benjamin's address if you if we jump forward a little bit to chapter 4 which I know is not in this week's blog, but you've kind of got to get to the end of his speech to see the result.

Whenever I get to a speech or a presentation or a sermon in the scriptures, I always ask, what was their goal?

So I assume that King Benjamin kind of said, what is it that I want this people to do?

And if you can identify that goal, what is it that his whole speech was designed to get them

doing, then you can go back and see how he planned his discussion so that that was our end result.

Starting in verse 12, he says,

I say into you that if you do this,

then all the things that I would like to happen to this people will come to pass.

Notice in Mosiah chapter 4 verse 12, behold I say in to you that if you do this, now we're going to find

that this, ready if you do this, then number one, you'll always rejoice.

Number two, you'll be filled with the love of God. Number three, you'll retain a remission of your

sins. Number four, you'll grow in the knowledge and glory of him that created you, the

knowledge of him that is just and true.
