This week, Saga and I spoke of Zack Carter, a senior reporter at Huff Post,

recovers econ policy and American politics.

Most importantly, for today's conversation, Zack is the author of the price of peace,

money, democracy, and the life of John Maynard Keynes.

It's a newly released New York Times bestselling biography of Keynes,

one of the 20th century's most important economists.

Now, this biography of Keynes is very important because, as he puts it in the episode,

Keynes actually dies two-thirds of the way through, which means that the book is a broader story of

the use of economics as a response to economic and international crises.

But even more importantly than that, it's the use of economics to solve public policy problems,

something that you know that we care so much about here on the podcast.

The thing that Zack does really well is he makes clear that wonky things like economics,

the Keynes were we focused on. Stent from his response to these very cataclysmic events that

happened during his life, that's World War I, it's the Great Depression, it's the breakup of the

British Empire. So his perspective is so valuable for us when we're sort of looking at this COVID-19

recession and the increased conflict between the US and China. It's really sort of this person who,

as Zack puts it, Keynes is someone who spent 50 years preparing for events like the ones we're

living through today. Yeah, and I was Zack and I've been friends just ever since his book came out,

he's been a frequent guest on rising, I really, really value his perspective. And what I was really

even happier about is that he's got another book that's going to be coming out. He's only just now
