I took the finances out of it and I kind of try to look at it for my morality standpoint of what is truly important in this time.

He played wide receiver at the University of Texas and it was also an Olympic long jumper.

That's my good friend, Marquise Goodwin.

Marquise was drafted by the Buffalo

Bills in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft and has worked hard to make a name for himself

in the league. After four seasons in Buffalo, he would go on to sign with the 49ers where he would

show off his talents and signed a nice contract extension in 2018.

After being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, Marquis made national news

this past week by deciding to opt out of the 2020 NFL season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

I've known Marquise for about eight years now and decided to speak with him about his difficult

decision as well as a number of other topics that include his battle with injuries throughout

his NFL career and the importance of faith and family in his life.

Marquise gives great perspective on the balance of family life for an NFL player and some of the things that motivate an elite level athlete to step away from the game for this season.
