Gaslighting - A psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality or memories, and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability and a dependency on the perpetrator.

Gaslighting is emotional abuse.

Gaslighting is a personality disorder.

Gaslighting starts with overly nice and kind behavior.

Phrases to look out for in Gaslighting:

  • I was just joking. You need to learn how to take a joke.
  • It’s not a big deal.
  • You’re overreacting.
  • You are too sensitive.
  • You’re the problem.
  • I would never do that.
  • I would never say something like that.
  • That never happened.
  • I’m concerned about your memory.
  • You’re crazy.
  • I can never do anything right be you. You’re not so perfect either.
