Summary

Perhaps more than ever we’re living in a day of worry and anxiety. But this isn’t new. Over 2,000 years ago Jesus stood on the edge of the Sea of Galilee and addressed our tendency to let anxiety overtake us. We’re continuing to move through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount where we’ll find real help for our anxious souls.  A sneak peek at what’s in store? When we treasure the wrong things our hearts become anxious. But when our hearts value eternal things—our relationship with God and others—our treasures are secure. One of my favorite parts of Jesus’ sermon is when He tells us to look at the birds and flowers to see how He cares for them. How much more He cares for us! We’re unpacking all of this and more. I hope you’ll join me for some soul rest in this episode.   Looking for a new ONLINE Bible Study? Sign up here for the Encountering God Online Bible study, starting January 13, 2022. We have looked at the beatitudes, which is how Jesus opens up the sermon on the Mount,

1:11.8

and we have also looked at what it means to be salt and light and what it means for Christ to have fulfilled the law. And also what it

1:18.1

means to keep the law both in deed and in heart. And now today, the moment that you have been waiting

1:24.5

for, we are going to talk about worry and anxiety. Because I know

2:13.5

not just tell us not to worry and not to be afraid, but he gives us reasons why. And that is a

2:21.8

huge shift that he gives us reasons why we do not have to live lives full of anxiety and worry.

2:29.1

And so that's what we're going to look at today. And as always, I hope that you guys are doing
