So I want to talk about something that's kind of troubling, at least initially troubling, and I want to argue that

it ought not to be troubling, but here it is.

So members of our family were sitting around the other night and my son was reading the highlights

to us from an article that he was reading and the phrase that came to my mind about the topic of this this topic of this article

which had to do with Google and Facebook was the phrase dirty omniscience, dirty omniscience, and I want to tease that

out in just a bit.

And the upshot of the article is that Google is tracking virtually everything you do and

and Facebook is doing almost that same amount.

You could reproduce, if you've got a smartphone that you've had on your person and you have used it for the last year,

it would be possible to reconstruct a detailed map of everywhere you went in the course of that year.

You know, which location, which shops, which houses, which places, you know, they could just, they could reproduce the whole map.

They can reproduce, so the issue is what information does Google store?

Well, they store everything.

Every page you've gone to, every photo you've taken, everything you've said, your phone is listening to you.

So just give you an example.

I think this happened the same evening.

My son has bought some acreage out of town

and they're looking to build on it and you know being out of

town there are ticks out there and so we were talking about different birds that eat ticks.
