All right folks welcome to the Gritty podcast. I am your host Brian Call and my

brother Brent Call is behind the helm running the show. Today our podcast is

with Aaron Snyder. Aaron recently returned from a trip to British Columbia where

he was hunting with our mutual friend Bart Lancaster. Now on this podcast we

get into that I don't know we get into predator hunting. It's a very touchy

issue. A lot of people don't understand it. It's a it's complex I guess in some

ways. I wish I had more time to dive into it because it's a whole subject on

its own and I've talked about it before Aaron and I've talked about it before.

But there is an article from 2011. It's a little bit older but it was in the

Huffington Post called the Ethics of Killing Large Carnivores and it kind of

speaks to in my opinion the controversy around and the misunderstanding around

hunting large carnivores. There's a there's a huge subset of our country a

huge population in our country that believes that we should never hunt a large

carnivore. For me not hunting large carnivores it's like whenever you say one

animal is more valuable than another. You practice that hierarchy of animal

value of life value. I struggle with that. It bothers me when people put more

value on let's say a mountain lion than they do a deer or an elk. All right.

Especially when populations can both be high. We should manage them for the best

ecology the the the healthiest environment of all populations. There are a lot

of people who just have an opinion that predators should never be hunted. And in

this article I'm going to read some of it just because I think it's interesting.
