Today we'll be telling a story about St. John Bosco, whose feast is celebrated on January 31st.

St. John Bosco, also known as Don Bosco, lived in Italy during the 19th century.

St. John Bosco was a priest that dedicated his life to educating poor street

children and orphans. He believed in teaching children through love, not

punishment. St. John Bosco followed the philosophy of St. Francis de Sales, who we heard about last week, so much that when he formed an order they were named the Salesians.

Throughout the course of his life, St. John Bosco was sent many special dreams, dreams that guided his own life and helped him guide the lives of his students.

St. John Bosco is the patron state of school children, editors, publishers, and magicians because he performed painter's

and magicians because he performed little tricks for his students.

Now it's time for our story.

The cold night air

whipped St. John Bosco's face as he hurried across the street, eager to get home.

His work took him all over the city of Turin, Italy,

and he often found himself in parts of the town known to be very dangerous, especially after dark.

St John pulled his cloak tightly around himself and quickened his pace.
