Summary

Today's guest is the one and only, literally, "Glute Guy", Bret Contreras. Bret is known for his training Booty Buy Bret and his gym The Glute Lab. He's also an author of multiple books, has a PHD in Sports Science, is a published researcher, and on top of it all is actually coaching people, in the trenches! Today we dive into his story, why the glutes are so important to train hard, the best ways to program for better glutes, and last but definitely not least, his thoughts on the recent study "Squats vs. Hip Thrusts" where squats outperformed hip thrusts for glute development.Bret has something to say about that study and today, he defends the hip thrust well! Follow Bret on instagram at @bretcontreras1 PLEASE go check out the new website, www.tailoredcoachingmethod.com

data-driven coaching, and education-focused content. Before we get into this podcast, I just want to say

0:12.9

thank you for taking the time to listen and learn with me so that you can apply what you are

0:17.9

about to learn, take my strategies, use these tools, and finally have

0:21.9

some serious methods to see sustainable success with your physique, your mind, and your life.

0:28.3

This podcast was built on the foundation of applied education, and I'm excited for you to be here

0:34.2

so you can have that experience with me. Now, without any further ado,

0:38.4

let's get on to the show. Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Brett Contreras,

0:46.9

aka the glute guy. He is known as the leading authority in building booties. Sounds funny, but I am dead serious.

0:55.6

This guy knows everything there is to know about training the glutes.

0:59.3

In fact, he invented the hip thrust, literally invented the hip thrust.

1:02.9

So this is the guy you want to talk to if you want to build your glutes, if you want more

1:05.6

powerful glutes, if you want stronger hamstring, so on and so forth.

1:08.5

This guy is all about the posterior chain. And the best part about Brett is not that he has his PhD in sports science,

1:13.8

not that he is the author and the founder of the glute lab, both the gym and the book,

1:17.5

as well as many other books.

1:19.1

Not that he is a published researcher, so he's actually in the lab doing the research

1:23.3

and giving us the science, but that he is experienced coach.

1:27.2

He is a trainer. Still, he is in the

1:29.7

trenches training people. And that's what he has been doing for more than a decade. So one of the

1:33.9

coolest things about Brett in our conversation today is that we aren't just speaking from the lab.

1:39.5

We are speaking from experience. And that's what I really respect about Brett. It's not that he's,
