Summary

Hi, there folks! Once again, it is an honor to hang out with you. This week's podcast is a little bit silly.  But, I am dead serious when I say that This. Tool. Works!   If you are struggling with perfectionism, or anxiety that stops you from starting a project or participating in an event, this is the podcast for you. Sometimes we need a different perspective to pull us out of our constant need to make things perfect and perform in a way that doesn't make us vulnerable.  Writing about it doesn't really do it justice, so give this episode a listen.   I hope it gives you a little laugh and you can use this tool when you are up against fear and need a little push forward. Forward we go, Kimberley

Welcome to Your Anxiety Toolkit. I'm your host, Kimberly Quinlan. This podcast is fueled by three

0:17.4

main goals. The first goal is to provide you with some extra tools to help you manage

0:22.4

your anxiety. Second goal, to inspire you. Anxiety doesn't get to decide how you live your life.

0:29.8

And number three, and I leave the best for last, is to provide you with one big, fat virtual hug

0:36.6

because experiencing anxiety ain't easy. If that sounds good to you,

0:41.2

let's go. Hello and welcome back. I'm so thrilled to have you with me again here for another episode of your anxiety toolkit.

0:56.3

Today, I am going to share with you a tool that I use for managing, number one, perfectionism.

1:08.9

But number two, it's also a tool that I use when people are struggling to start

1:15.3

a project or start an activity when anxiety is getting in the way. So if either of those apply to

1:23.4

you, I think you're really going to enjoy this episode. But the other reason I think you're

1:29.8

going to enjoy it is because I actually think that this tool is hilarious. I love it. It is something

1:36.0

that I practice every single day. You will probably hear me crack up several times during this episode because this topic just makes me

1:49.5

laugh. I think it is such a cool topic and, you know, I think that you'll actually find humor

1:55.8

in the fact that I find it so humorous. So let me share with you a little bit about what I'm talking about.

2:03.4

So commonly, when I am with clients and we're talking about doing hard things and you all know

2:11.8

that's what I'm an advocate for, my goal is just to help you learn to do hard things, you know, and do them proud. But when people are

2:21.8

being asked to do hard things, often they will ask me a question of like, but how? How am I supposed

2:29.2

to do the hard things? How do I get them started? How do I move myself into that process? And often what I find,

2:38.1

as I mentioned at the beginning, is the thing that's preventing them from moving into the project

2:44.3

or the event is often this idea that they're supposed to do it perfectly. And it's this idea that it will be so

2:52.5

fearful, it will be so anxiety provoking that they won't be able to handle it. And so what I do
