Summary

Plastic surgery is more popular than ever, and women are paying an incredible amount for it. The epicenter of the plastic surgery industry is undeniably South Korea — Seoul leads the world in plastic surgery rates. Elise Hu experienced this culture firsthand as the NPR bureau chief responsible for coverage of North Korea, South Korea, and Japan. In her new book: “Flawless: Lessons in Looks and Culture from the K-Beauty Capital,” she explores if our constant drive to look “better than ever” will ever be enough. In Mailbag, we hear from a listener who has a 401(k) plan from a previous employer and isn’t sure what to do with it next. We also hear from a listener who is 72 and wonders where they can splurge a little! In our money tip of the week, we go over how to decide when is the right time to sell a stock.
