Hello and greetings once again everyone.

Laus le Montgomery here with part four of our little overview of the Ching Dynasty, the last imperial dynasty of China.

We're going to look at the history up to about 1850, 1853 or so. This is when Hong

Schoen, the self-styled younger brother of Jesus Christ and his Taiping rebel

army, take control of the southern capital of Nanjing.

So today we're going to look at the half century from the time the Chienlong Emperor finally

died in 1799 until March 19th 1853 when Hong Schoen

marches into Nanjing victorious and sets up his capital.

Then the Taiping rebellion really explodes, but that's all for the next episode when we do part five.

The Chienlong era, longest in Imperial Chinese history, ended in 1799.

And just as a new nation called the USA was struggling to begin its own history as a country,

Qing Dynasty China was just getting ready to suffer through a very bad 50 years.

1800 to 1850 is a half century most Chinese would like to just as soon forget.

Honestly, you don't have to dig too deep into Chinese cyberspace these days to peruse the

various forums, micro blogs, and other social networking sites to discover this 50 year period is still alive and well in the

psyche of many Chinese. I've read more than a few historical allusions to this period when

discussing or reading about current events in China.

The whole matter of foreigners pushing Chinese around and disrespecting them all had its

roots during this time.

This is where it all began. This half century we will look at today.

Even today when there's any public groundswell in China where the government is perceived to be

kowtowing to the Western powers, you'll see the forums and bulletin boards in China
