I think often we invite ridicule and persecution because we go and do an argument to win it

rather than to be a witness. We want to be a winner, not a witness. And being a witness comes with the

reality that I was there. I was there once. You know, I am nothing but a beggar who found food

and is inviting other beggars to the feast.

And when you have that heart,

people may still be angry with you

because you're preaching the truth.

They may still get upset with you

because you're using the law

to show them they're starving for the gospel.

But you're not going to invite it because you're trying to win an argument.

You know what I mean?

There's a different disposition there when you're pleading for the sake of salvation

and not self-righteously like look at all of the one-liners I've memorized and let me show you

how I'm going to make you feel dumb and wrong. And we've seen it. Like I've seen, I won't name them,

but I know the YouTube channels that have millions of subscribers and the person's just being a jerk for

Jesus. And people love it. We get fired up because it makes us feel empowered.

Oh yeah, we are right.

Oh, yeah, we are the smarter ones.

Like, no, man, we are beggars who found food.

We were starving in the desert.

We were thirsty in the desert.
