And today we are finishing Genesis, 42 through 50.

Now, this is the story of Joseph reconciling with his brethren and then bringing them down into Egypt.

It starts off in chapter 42, where Jacob sends his sons to Egypt

because they're starving and there's corn in Egypt because of Joseph's foresight and the dreams

that he interpreted of Pharaoh. So 42 is the story of them coming in. Joseph recognizes them.

They don't recognize him. He kind of is a little bit harsh with them,

sends them back for Benjamin. And so they head back to grab Benjamin and bring Benjamin down.

The 43rd chapter is where Judah essentially steps up. There's this tension that Joseph is

establishing. They don't know that it's him. And so he says, how do I know you guys are telling the truth? And so he says, you know, bring your younger brother and let me hold him as like collateral to see if you guys are legit. And Judah steps up and says, you know what? I'm going to offer myself up as surety. And so in this chapter, Joseph's eating and drinking with his brothers.

They still don't know who he is, though.

So there's kind of that unknown factor going on in the 43rd chapter as to when they will find out who he is.

And then in 44, Benjamin's has come down and they're eating and Joseph is favoring Benjamin.

And then he sends them back, but puts his cup in Benjamin's sack. And then he sends his troops in afterwards and say, why are you so unkind as to reward
