0:33.8	You know, Nick has always loved cycling, but in 2019, he took it to a whole other level.
0:40.3	His lifelong friend Darren invited him to compete in the Cape Epic in South Africa.
0:46.0	It's a big mountain bike race, and it was to celebrate their 50th birthday.
0:50.0	I need you to know that Nick had never, up until this point, ridden a mountain bike, and he had
0:55.0	no idea that the Cape Epic was the toughest mountain bike race in the world. It is eight days of
1:01.7	mountain bike riding over some of the roughest terrain anywhere. Each day averages about 60 miles of
1:07.7	distance and 10,000 feet of elevation. Now, did I happen to mention that Nick up until
1:13.7	this point had never ridden a mountain bike before? My husband is a very determined man and he was
1:19.7	not going to let a small detail like the fact that he'd never ridden a mountain bike before
1:23.4	stop him from actually entering the race. He astounded everyone that he completed the Cape Epic,
1:32.0	not just once, but twice.
1:34.6	And you have to laugh because people like his bike mechanic
1:37.6	summed up what Nick thinks every other competitor
1:40.6	an official at the Cape Epic thought
1:43.3	when they saw him at the starting line.
