Summary

If you have tried to lose weight, you may have used food at one point as a reward or punishment- usually as the former since we don't feel as good about ourselves and think we should deprive ourselves. But the way our brains work is that it naturally gravitates toward pleasure. Therefore, being self-deprecating will not be a sustainable source of motivation in the long run.
