Welcome to Talking Scripture. I'm Mike. And I'm Bryce. And today we are going to be in Section 89 through 92 of the Doctrine Covenants. And Section 89 comes to us out of the school of the

0:35.0

prophets. They're in the upstairs room of the Newell-K. Whitney store. And it's this teeny little room. And some of the school of the prophets. They're in the upstairs room of the Newell K. Whitney store,

0:39.1

and it's this teeny little room, and some of the brethren would take out their plugs of tobacco,

The flesh of beasts and the fowls of the air, I the Lord have ordained for the use of man

1:32.6

with Thanksgiving. Nevertheless, they are to be used sparingly. Verse 14 says, all grain is ordained

1:39.0

for the use of man and of beasts. And then finally, verse 16, all grain is good for food of man as also the fruit

1:46.9

of the vine, that which yieldeth fruit. And so big picture, the word of wisdom is a binding

1:52.5

law of health that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints covenant to live and keep,

1:57.6

and it's part of qualifying for a temple recommend. Typically, we focus on the prohibitions,
