So quick question for all of you.

Do you know how much your boss earns?

What about the new hire who just took over your old job or the co-worker sitting right next to you?

For many of us, the answer is probably no or even no way.

Just 17% of employees at private companies say that their company's salary information is public.

41% say their managers actively discourage them from talking about their wages

and an additional quarter of people say their companies prohibit them from discussing pay.

By the way, I do not think that's legal.

But what is to be done when you want to understand whether or not you have pay parity with your colleagues

or if you're curious that you might be being paid less than a man for the same job?

Without pay transparency, it can feel like you are stumbling around in the dark.
