A hiker who'd been missing in Northern British Columbia in October was found alive last week after surviving 50 days in the woods.

20-year-old Sam Benistick was reported missing by his mother on October 19.

Her son had decided to go on a 10-day hike by himself in the Redfern-Ciley Provincial

Park. He planned to hike, ride his mom's dirt bike, and fish for Arctic Grayling.

Problem was, this area of BC is incredibly remote and incredibly cold,

with nights dropping down to negative 4 degrees Fahrenheit, even in the fall.

When Sam's mom didn't hear from him, she reported him missing.
