I have two sons and for the last few years we've each worked on our summer bucket list using the attached template at dinner on one of the first days of summer.

It brought joy to my heart when my 15 year old asked just this morning mom, when are we going to work on our bucket list?

I found that giving categories as shown on the template projects, people, adventures, foods, etc. was much more manageable for kids than the wide open question, what do you want to do this summer?

Beyond the obvious reasons that you described for designing a summer using this sheet has had a couple of added benefits.

First, I saved the paper copy so it is great fun to look back and remember what we've done over the years and to see the changes and hobbies friends and even handwriting.

Second, my husband is in the Navy reserves and many summers he has gone for his reserve duty.
