One of the reasons that we struggle is that people don't understand biblical roles.

But the more we understand the roles that God has made us to fulfill, the more joy that we have.

I also think we talk to a lot of couples who, they'll come in for counseling and they'll

pre-marital and say, hey, we're going to get married, you know, and we'll sit there.

And the first question that we like to ask is, well, why are you getting married?

So, you know, your son, we'll just use Taney.

If we were to sit down, a lot of times, even in an evangelical world or a Christian world,

it'll be answers like, well, you know, we want to have a family together, which is good,

we'll point out you could, there's lots of people who aren't Christians and who even don't get married to have families. And, you know, eventually we point out to him like, all those things can be done.

This is the old J. Adams point.

All those things can be done without being married, right?

So why are you actually doing this?

And then you go into the eternal purpose, the glory of God and the metaphor of the gospel.

But we always love to take them back to Genesis chapter 2 and say you know hey at the end of the

day it wasn't good God said for man to be alone and so there's this helper this Ezra

conigdo who's made for him and so it's companionship what we like to call this contract of lifetime

teammates where you're saying we're not going to do this alone and so now we're going to walk an

aisle in covenant to one another to our friends and family but also to the

living God that we're going to be lifetime teammates are what we call best

friendship we're going to build a best friendship and we're going to do life

together and I think that's the element that most people miss I'm getting

married for sex I'm getting married to have a family I'm getting married but I
