Hey everybody, this is the hair game. Welcome. In this episode, we have an interview with Wes Palmer, aka West Does Hair. I love how we get into his principles just naturally in this conversation. In each interview, I try to extract the principles that the person is using to be successful so that we can use those same principles

tactically in our lives. That's like the point of this whole thing. You can feel West's

competitive and determined nature coming out here. And I believe that this is what has made him

so successful, so young in his career. All right. So you're in Houston right now. Tell us about your history and how you find your

way to hair. And so that's what's crazy. When I was, before I got into hair, I actually was in

college to play tennis. And nobody ever believed me.

That's right.

Wait, hold on.

The tennis coach didn't believe you that you were there to play tennis or your friends

didn't believe you that you were playing tennis?

Every hairstyle is when I'm on stage when I told them I used to play, I chose hair over tennis.

They'd never believe me that I did.

I played tennis. But I played hair over tennis. I never believed me that I did, I played tennis,

but I played for 15 years and played in London and everything.

So pro?

I mean, were you playing pro or college?

Yeah, I was playing pro level.

I was getting right up that point.

And then after my second year on college, I quit.

And I went to a dinner that night with a bunch of hairdressers and they told me to just try it so the next day I went to my local beauty school and just signed up oh my god that's crazy man I'm quitting college I was like yeah I'm quit in. So how did you find yourself at dinner with a bunch of hairdressers?

The guy that did it, he actually, one of the guys that was having dinner with us, he was actually

the guy that did my hair, and we just had developed a friendship over time. And then his wife
