Summary

Kevin started using drugs at 12 years-old, and when we met at 15, we started using together.  Because we each had so much family chaos and trauma, we truly relied on each other to get by.  Our relationship involved drugs, cheating, abortion, violence, and pure chaos. It was toxic. We eventually parted ways and I got sober. Two years later while I was working for VICE, I got a call that Kevin needed help. We ended up doing a mini doc on him and it now has over 1.2 million downloads on YouTube. Now, six years later were catching up with Kevin.

Kevin and I dated a very long time ago and had a very toxic relationship that resulted in us parting ways on not the greatest terms.

I think because that Vice doc that we put up on YouTube ended up having 1.2 million downloads which is incredible.

This is really the first time that we've ever sat down and had like a comprehensive dialogue about everything that transpired in our lives and our past, our history with dating and drug dealing and the chaos of our relationship and then eventually helping him to get sober and where he's at today.

1:20.5

One thing is for sure, recovery is often messy. His journey has been messy, mine has to.

1:29.5

I'm just really glad that we both made it out alive and that we were able to sit down together and to do this, to hash it out and have a really interesting dialogue around sobriety and you know to follow up and see where we're at today.

I don't know, I saw you a few years ago.

2:16.5

That was like for a minute though. Longing a year ago because they shut down after the fires.

2:22.5

That was almost a year ago which is such a trip.

2:25.5

Yeah, that's how I saw it before that. It's probably like three years prior to that.

2:30.5

It's crazy. Does anybody ever say, oh hey you're Kevin from Vice? Does anybody ever say Kevin?

2:37.5

Maybe like twice.
