0:26.6	Greenland has just voted for independence. This is an astonishing development. Greenlanders went to the polls yesterday and the results shocked Europe and the world.
0:33.1	I'm Dr. Steve, your patriot professor, and I'm going to break it all down for you. Here's exactly what you need to know.
0:41.1	Greenland is a self-governing territory of Denmark, but the spirit of independence has been
0:46.3	gradually gaining ground among the population of just under 60,000 for years.
0:51.8	And that spark of independence has been rekindled of late by President Trump's
0:56.8	call for Greenland to join up with the United States.
1:01.6	Well, we need Greenland for national security purposes. I've been told that for a long time,
1:07.3	long before I even ran, I mean, people have been talking about it for a long time.
1:14.3	You have approximately 45,000 people there.
1:19.4	People really don't even know if Denmark has any legal right to it.
1:23.0	But if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security.
1:24.1	That's for the free world.
1:26.0	I'm talking about protecting the free world. So yesterday, Greenlanders went to the polls to vote on their parliament, and the results
1:31.5	were astounding. Greenland's pro-independent center-right party, the Democratic Party,
1:39.1	won big with 30% of the multi-party vote. They more than tripled their vote from their last election, while the second place party,
1:48.1	Nalarok, which once explicitly join up with the United States, came in at 25%.
1:54.5	They also made huge gains from their last parliamentary election.
1:58.2	All told, the election was a thoroughly pro-independence election.
