Summary

Ahhh, this interview y'all. There is so much goodness here. This week, I'm talking with Holly Whitaker, founder of Tempest Sobriety School and The Temper, and author of the recent "Quit Like a Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol." Holly also played a huge part in my decision to quit drinking, over three years ago, and I loved getting to have this conversation with her.

Even though we recorded pre-coronavirus, everything we talked about is relevant to where we are today. You'll hear us cover pivotal life moments, why sometimes feeling guilty is okay, how to decide what you owe yourself vs what you owe others, non-linear paths of learning, and why you might need to live in a way that allows you to have constant interventions.

We also talk about why it's okay not to be okay and how showing up is part of the healing.

Now, this interview that you're about to hear with Holly Whitaker, who I'm going to

0:35.2

introduce in just a moment, was actually recorded back in

0:39.0

February. So this was pre-coronavirus, COVID-19, everything that's going on. And I was holding it

0:47.7

because I was trying to do stuff that was a little bit more relevant. But I kept coming back to this conversation. I kept sharing

0:56.8

it with my inner circleers and being like, y'all need to hear this. Even though we haven't published

1:02.0

it yet, this needs to be out in the world. And yeah, and I realized this week that it was time

1:08.6

to publish it. And even though we don't speak directly to the

1:13.9

pandemic and what's going on, I think that it's absolutely completely relevant to everything that

1:20.7

is going on in our lives right now. So who is Holly? Holly Whitaker is the author of the book, Quit Like a Woman, the radical

1:29.5

choice to not drink in a culture obsessed with alcohol. That book came out in January. It is amazing.

1:35.3

She is also the founder of the Tempest sobriety school. And Holly is a huge role model of mine.

1:43.0

She played a huge part in my decision to quit drinking over three

1:47.8

years ago. And so I'm so grateful to Holly for that. But I also want any of y'all who maybe aren't

1:55.5

that interested in hearing about sobriety, I want to encourage you to still listen to this conversation because

2:03.5

while Holly's work is centered around helping people, a lot of women, quit drinking,

2:12.3

really it's about stepping into all of the things you want for your life, right?
