Today's guest is bassist and lead vocalist, Chris Ballou, from the Seattle-Washington

rock band, the Presidents of the United States of America. Together we break down the writing,

recording, and inspiration behind the lead-off single, Kitty, taken from the band's self-titled major label debut

album. Chris is a three-peater here on the show, having been here to break down lump in April of

2022, and again, two years later on April of 2024, to break down peaches. And man, this song had me howling

laughing as I combed through it.

The absurdity of grown men, all meowing, purring, and doing their best to emulate the sounds of a

cat together is pure fun. Yes, there was a real live cat for inspiration, as well as copious amounts

of weed and cough cough other things.

I mean, come on, it was the 90s.

All I hear is a band jamming together,

making art that is pure, unfiltered, and fun.

This isn't a cut and pasted musical computer project.

Nah, just three friends making noise for the sake of making noise.

And that is beautiful.
