This is kind of the way that we encourage parents to think about any adult gathering that

0:07.0

we want to integrate children into that is not designed for children.

0:15.6

What's up, guys? Welcome to another five-minute fatherhood. So there's a little thing that I've

0:20.0

been working out in the context of some gatherings we've been having in our house with kids, but I realized that

0:29.8

this is kind of a helpful framework just to think about. So I wanted to kind of run past you,

0:35.2

Jeff, and see what you think. So in the context of our gatherings we have in our house where we're spending time,

0:41.9

you know, praying, a teaching, we really love it when kids can be with their parents.

0:48.4

This is the same thing that will apply to worship services if you want your kids to be with you in a worship service. How do you

0:55.5

decide what events to bring your kids into when they're ready, when you're ready, and which

1:03.5

ones to get child care for? And so this is the way I think about it. So I want my kids to be with me as

1:11.6

That's sort of my default. If unless there's some topic we're talking about that's inappropriate

1:16.0

for kids, I would really rather than be with me, whether it's like a movie theater or a restaurant

1:21.5

or when I'm at work. But I have to be sensitive to the fact that kids fall into one of these three categories.

1:29.7

And that really is how I determine if they're ready for this event. Okay, so the first category is

1:35.4

pre-training. And that means when I say a child's in pre-training, that means that I just don't

1:41.6

believe they're ready to be trained to be in this environment.

1:49.6

You know, maybe a two-year-old in a three-hour movie, maybe it's not great idea to try to make them sit through that, right?

1:51.5

Yeah. So they're just not ready for it. Okay, that's fine. And so I get child care for that,

1:56.9

no big deal. Then there's, there's another category. They go from pre-training to

2:02.3

in-training. Now this is a really fun transition and as fathers I think we need to really enjoy

2:07.5

this. So that is okay, I now think that they could handle it. So let's say you got a you know,
