Sonia Sotomayor is a great American story.

Born in the South Bronx, raised in poverty in a crime-ridden neighborhood, lost her father

at a very early age, battle-juvenal diabetes, language barriers and discrimination, to excel

as a student, as a lawyer, as a prosecutor, as a federal judge, and a federal appeals court

judge, and now as the first Latina to sit on the United States Supreme Court.

I sat down at the court with Justice Sotomayor recently to talk about the court, to talk

about her journey.

And two new books she's just released, called The Beloved World of Sonia Sotomayor, and

Turning Pages, My Life Story, for Young Readers.

Justice Sotomayor, so good to see you again, good to be with you.

It's always wonderful to see you, David.

I was telling you before that I found your book, your biography, your memoir, absolutely

riveting and honest and powerful, and now you've written two more books, derivative of

it for young people.

I want to talk to you about that.

I can't, we're in this room, this conference room at the Supreme Court, surrounded by portraits

of the chiefs who have presided over the court, and I just wanted to spend a couple of minutes

on the moment that you think the court is in now.

We just came through this, I know you guys are sort of cloister, but you're not cocooned.

We came through this acrimonious process of confirmation.
