This is a story about a family, a wealthy family who lived in the South.

Unfortunately for this family is they have drama.

They are not a perfect family.

My family is imperfect.

Everybody's family is.

Those families, however, don't consist of murder.

Let me start at the beginning.

The patriarch and the matriarch of the Ferris family were Gary and Melody Ferris, a now

middle-aged couple who had been together for decades.

Gary and Melody met each other when they were 16 years old through mutual friends at

church.

They married young, right out of high school.

Melody was only 19 years old.

Over the years, they had four children.

Chris was the oldest.

Next was Scott.

The brothers were close and slept in bunk beds growing up.

Then came Emily, the quote, smart one.

Finally, Amanda, the baby. Gary and Melody raised their children in Alabama and then moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the 1990s, as Gary's

career took off after law school. Gary had studied law at the University of Alabama and graduated at the top of his

class. He was a workaholic who was passionate about his job. His children had no doubt, though,

that their father loved them. Son Scott would later say his father was the smartest man he knew.
