I must admit I was a clown to be messing around. But that doesn't mean that you have to leave town. Come back. So do badders, I've got a treat up my sleeve for you. A couple of weeks ago, my friend said to me, have you read this book called Running Man? And I was like, don't be silly. I don't read books. I listened to them. And he said, you should read it. And it's by a guy called Charlie Engel. And I was like, that name does ring a bell. So I started listening to it on my runs. And usually I get two chapters in and I'm like, this is boring. This is about running. I'm going to switch off. But not this book. Not this book. It was so good. I ended up actually doing longer runs just to listen to it. And then I said to hell out, we need to have this guy on the podcast. He's amazing. The reasons why he's amazing will become apparent. So welcome to the BBR podcast, Charlie Engle! Yay!

I'm sitting in my backyard in Durham, North Carolina. So I think you guys have a Durham over there

somewhere, too. We do. He doesn't look like that, though.

If you had rain coming at you sideways, that would be slightly more accurate.

Yeah, rain coming at you sideways and children pulling each other's hair in the background, then maybe.

Yeah, we haven't.

It's weird how we have a lot of places in the UK that are named after places in America or Australia that are utterly beautiful, that are abjectly horrible in the UK, isn't it?

They've got loads of them. They're everywhere.

You know, one of you guys came over here and landed here in what is now Durham and named it, I'm sure.

I mean, the next city over is Raleigh, which you probably have one of those too.

So, you know, we're, we basically just steal. That's what we do here.

I always like, when someone comes over, they obviously look at here, this like beautiful,

fervent woodland and everything go, yeah, this, this reminds me of back home.

It looks just like it, and it clearly doesn't at all.

That romanticised notion, though, isn't it? It's like the most into spectacles.

So I think we should start for the beginning, really, Charlie, like, almost as if we were reading the book, because your story is pretty epic.
