The Chowchilla school bus abduction occurred on July 15, 1976 and is considered the largest mass abduction in American history. The incident involved the kidnapping of 26 children between the ages of 5-14, as well as their bus driver, by three men who buried them alive in a quarry in Livermore, California. The intention for ransom was set by the men, but a lack of execution would turn the story in a miraculous direction.
