We've got Professor Jeff Finn Paul with us today, who is a professor of economic history at Leiden University in the Netherlands.

And he is the author of numerous things things but I would say probably the most

controversial thing he's done and if there's something more controversial than this then I

need to know more about his career is his book that we're going to be talking about

today not stolen the truth about European colonialism in the new world first of all

the timing is very interesting because we've just had Thanksgiving in the new world. First of all, the timing is very interesting

because we've just had Thanksgiving in the United States,

and so these sorts of topics come up quite a bit.

I will say before we jump into this,

that the book is organized as a series of questions

in each chapter addresses a question.

So the book is not exclusively or even primarily

about the sole question of, you know, did the Europeans steal the land from the natives? That is a

question. There are all kinds of interesting topics tackled in this controversial, but very

valuable and interesting and important book. So, Jeff, welcome to the show.
