Summary

On April 2nd, 2015 Tom Turcich left his home in New Jersey to embark on a five year trek across the seven continents. The dream of walking around the world formed at seventeen after his friend AnneMarie passed. Since her death Tom decided to make the most of each day. He is walking around the world to become immersed in unknown places and be forced into adventure day after day. In Texas he adopted a dog, Savannah, and have crossed every border together ever since.

And I know that you've really enjoyed her on the previous episodes where she has offered wonderful adventure, dining, tips, and tricks, teaching us how to eat better in the backcountry, which is something that I'm really looking forward to in this summer adventure season. Thank you so much for having me back. So Michelle, you have a tip for us today about high altitude cooking. So first, why does this matter? What's the deal with high altitude cooking?

This is something I get a lot of questions about. So I just wanted to address it because once you get above 10,000 feet, your environment changes

drastically. You don't have as many water resources. You're more susceptible to wind, to cold,

and it takes a lot longer for water to come to a boil, which of course uses more fuel. So these

are all really important

things that you need to take into consideration because if you're relying on foods that take a long

time to heat up and cook, it might not be successful. So just be conscious. And these are a few things

be conscious of your water sources. So you need to know how much you use and how to repurpose that water.

So if you're above a water source, cook with something that doesn't need as much water. So pre-cooked
