0:49.1	And it's this belief that it takes 10,000 hours of practice or 10,000 hours of doing something to really reach a high
0:57.0	level of expertise. And you need these 10,000 hours to get on that path to success. This is beyond
1:03.5	garbage. This is actually harmful. And I'm going to go through some quick win tactics on doing
1:09.7	stuff without even having 10 hours of expertise and how it could lead to even greater success.
1:15.1	But before we get to that, how did we arrive at this nonsense that 10,000 hours is really important?
1:22.3	How did this come to be?
1:23.2	Well, Malcolm Gladwell, who I think is an incredible author.
1:26.7	I've read a bunch of his books, super smart dude.
1:29.5	He kind of reintroduced this idea of the 10,000 hour rule in his book Outliers back in 2008.
1:35.7	And basically, he was arguing that it takes 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to achieve
1:41.7	world-class expertise in any field.
1:44.7	And he based this idea on research from this psychologist, Anders Erickson,
1:49.5	who studied this like violinists all around the world.
1:52.9	And he found that, you know, these violinists that spend 10,000 hours were able to become
1:56.8	the greatest violinist on the planet.
