| 0:00.0 | Instead of actually thinking about important things, we think about really small things, |
| 0:05.5 | we blow them out of proportion. |
| 0:10.8 | What's up, guys? |
| 0:11.7 | Welcome to Five Minute Fatherhood. |
| 0:12.9 | So I want to talk about this current moment we're in. |
| 0:16.3 | And I think there is a silver lining that it's really important for us to, as believers especially, |
| 0:21.8 | to think about. And sociologists I've heard talk about that throughout all of human history, |
| 0:28.5 | we live in a really unusual time where there is this thing that they are calling the |
| 0:32.1 | assumption of stability. And that means that people are, for the first time in human history, |
| 0:38.4 | growing up in an environment in which they never think that they're going to be in a situation where they could |
| 0:43.4 | be hungry or they could be in danger. And that that assumption of stability creates a certain |

| 1:00.6 | lived through both what we're going through with the virus and then probably the economic |
| 1:07.0 | downturns and recessions and that are going to come as a result, that they're going to look |
| 1:12.7 | back, they're going to just look at life differently. And they're never going to be able to have |
| 1:16.3 | the same level of assumption of stability that they would have had had this crisis not happened. |
| 1:21.4 | And I think that as believers, it's really important that we live in a world without that |
| 1:25.7 | assumption. I don't think that assumption of stability is good. I don't think that it's a part of what life is supposed to feel like and be like after the fall. I don't think it's real. I think that's something illusory about it. There really is, we aren't really living in a stable world and it requires trust. And there's really kind of, you think about it from two different poles. |
| 1:45.7 | There's like, you could live in a world in which there's all chaos, right? 100% chaos and |
| 1:50.9 | you're always in survival mode. And that's not a good world to live in either, because in that |
| 1:55.5 | world, it's really difficult to pursue God or anything meaningful because you're always worried |
