And she has gotten herself, I think quite surprisingly, even to her, into some hot water for what will seem to virtually everybody listening to this a rather minor thing.

And the consequences she's facing boggle the mind, really, that it's astonishing this could possibly happen.

So I think this will be of interest to everybody listening, regardless of your level of interest

in the particular issue that brought this whole thing on, the way this has been handled in Maine

is just astonishing. So now that I've given people no information whatsoever, Laura, welcome to the show.

It was a great non-explanation of what's going on. Well, let's start with this. So basically what's

happened is you weighed in on a matter of controversy that we're seeing at the local level all throughout

the country and the response is so disproportionate as to, as I guess I say, boggle the mind.

But let's start with this. My sense, given the limited knowledge I have, I grew up in Massachusetts,

maybe this is an oversimplification,

but that Maine politics is in a way Portland versus everybody else. Now, is that too simple?

You know, that is certainly a simplification, Tom. I don't think it's too simple because it really

is like we've got two mains. and people reference that all the time, particularly

folks who live, say Auburn, where I live, and North.

It feels like we have two Maines, and the legislature is legislating for that smaller

geographic region where the most liberal population lives.

Yeah.
