Summary

We’re tying up our series on the character of Christ with three crowning virtues: Love, peace, and gratitude. We’ll see that without love all the other virtues fall apart—love is what holds them all together. Peace is more than just a settled internal state of being. Paul longs for us to live in peace with one another because it’s part of what we’ve been called to. And, lastly, he reminds us to be thankful. A heart overflowing with thankfulness will naturally be a spring from which the virtues of Christ flow. 1 John 4:7-11 I hope you’ve loved this series. If you’d like to go deeper we’re offering 25% off Kelly’s book The Fitting Room: Putting on the Character of Christ for our Cultivate listeners. Yeah. Access more. Hello and welcome to this episode of the Cultivate Podcast. I am so glad that you have joined me today as we begin to close up this series that is called Putting on the Character

1:04.1

of Christ. We have been in Colossians chapter 3 versus 12 through 15 for about five weeks. And this is the episode where we kind of

1:14.3

tie all of this up. And I am really pumped about it. I also might be slightly more excited

1:20.2

than normal because tomorrow I am heading to a small cottage in Upper Michigan that sits on a lake and it's owned by a friend of

1:30.1

mine's family and I've been going up there for the last 20 years, I think. And so I'm so excited

1:36.3

because here in Nashville, it is so hot that, like, I go to the Amazon. I know hot and I know

1:43.6

humidity. And Nashville is crushing the

1:47.0

Amazon in its astounding ability to be suffocating. So I am ready to bust out of here and

1:53.7

head to this cottage where it is supposed to be, I think, high 70s, low 80s, not a lot of

1:59.9

humidity. And sometimes at night there, even in August,

2:04.3

you can have a fire. So I'm so ready. But I'm also ready for this particular text that we're

2:11.4

going to be looking at today. So just as a quick recap, remember, if you are jumping in now,

2:16.7

I would encourage you, just hit pause,

2:18.8

go back and find episode 22. That is where all of this began, where our series began. And the

2:25.2

reason I say go back to episode 22 is because Paul begins in Colossians 312 by saying,

2:31.5

therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on, and then he
