an hour modern age, and I would say even before this,

this is the early Disney movies,

inspired and influenced this idea that marriage

was all about you, that the husband and Prince Charming,

the only thing that he was missing was the final jewel on his crown,

which is the wife, which turns the woman into this possessive thing

that just makes your life better.

Or vice versa, the woman, all she needs is the man to come along

and make her life better.

And the problem with that is that I've said this in an earlier podcast,

ultimately, what that does is it makes us,

makes us gods of our own kingdom.

If my wife is there to please me, or if I'm there to please my wife,

then when the chores aren't done in my particular fashion,

or in the time that I expect them,

if the bills aren't paid the way I want them,

if the kids aren't being treated or aren't treating me

or acting the way I want them to,

then all of a sudden, my household is my kingdom.

And I am my God.

And what I'm ultimately doing,

what I disagree with my spouse in those moments
