Around 6 a.m. on a Sunday morning a terrible scene was unfolding outside Cleveland, Ohio.

A car traveling at a high rate of speed went off the road and crashed into a brick warehouse. It was July 31st, 2022.

When police arrived the driver 17 year old Mackenzie Charilla, was alive, but trapped in the wreckage of what was left of her 2018 Black Toyota Camry.

Mackenzie's two passengers, her boyfriend Dominic Russo and Dominic's friend

Davion Flanagan were already dead.

Dominic was 20 years old, Devion 19.

Officers began investigating what had happened.

By all accounts, Mackenzie hadn't been drinking at the time, although there were some levels of marijuana found in her system when authorities analyzed her blood.

Her Toyota had been the lone vehicle involved.

Her car also seemed to be in good working order

before the crash, so there was no indication

of mechanical failure.

There was nothing wrong with the brakes.

The crash occurred near Progress Drive, a relatively straight stretch of

pavement in Ohio's Strongsville Business Park. There were no winding roads here.
