It was the night of July 18th, 2014, hours after Dan Markel had been shot in his driveway,

and just before he would pass away from his injuries in the hospital.

Charlie Adelson, according to his testimony, was at work when he got a call from his mom,

Donna, telling him that Dan had been shot.

He was upset, he said.

After you got off the phone with your mom, what did you do?

I went back to work.

And, uh, did you have some communications with people after that through text messages

about how you were feeling?

I did.

And generally speaking, how were you feeling?

I wasn't feeling great.

I was pretty upset about what I just heard.

He left the office he was working at in Jupiter, Florida after 8 PM. He said he made

numerous phone calls including to his then girlfriend Katie Magbanua.

He told her that his former brother-in-law had been shot and that he didn't feel like going out.

He said she seemed concerned and said she would come over.

He also talked to his mom again. He said his parents were planning on heading up to Tallahassee to be with his sister Wendy.
