One of the most important topics we covered on this show is the idea that the right is approaching

economics in different ways. The right is no longer interested in so much in limited

government and is actually more open to using the state to accomplish different ends,

whether that means addressing issues in the tech policy area or with trade or even with

actual policies on the ground such as families and welfare.

One of the people who's been leading the charge and thinking differently about economics

and a conservative ways, orange cast. Orange actually served as Mitt Romney's domestic

policy head during the 2012 campaign, which always turns a lot of heads whenever he

tells people that, but he's very quick to mention, you're going to hear this in the

episode, about how if you peeled back the layers of makers and takers of Paul Ryanism

and much of that, that there was a coherence to the new conservative economic ideology

that he perpetuates. And what's so great about orange is, orange is actually pretty young

for this space and he points out that back in 2014, he was actually writing National Review

pieces about how he needed to have a trade war confrontation with China. So I think he's

always been a leader in this space. We're really excited because orange actually is a fan

of the podcast. He reached out. He wants to discuss the launch of his new organization
