Woods show with Dr Harvey Risch who is professor emeritus of epidemiology

in the Department of Epidemiology and public health at the Yale School of

Public Health and Yale School of Medicine. I think it's safe to say that Dr. Risch became, let's say,

unintentionally, much more of a national name and let's say lightning rod

and source of controversy none of which he expected certainly in 2020 but all of

which happened so Dr. R, welcome to the show.

That's my pleasure to be with you.

I want to just start off by just asking you a couple of personal questions

about your experiences, if I may, and I'm sure you've been through this before but when I have people like

Jay Botacharya on the show I just can't help but ask them especially because I'm sure you know Jay

Bacharya and he's a very soft spoken person. I mean he's not a

confrontational sort of person by by Constitution let's say and yet he's been

thrust into the public eye for saying things that I think he assumed were just common

places and all of a sudden he's stirred up all this controversy and I guess I'd

like to know a little bit about what's happened to you in terms of your relationship

with your colleagues because Dr. Bautachari has been quite alienated from people who have

been really good friends to him over the year. So what's this been like?
