Welcome to talking scripture. I'm Mike and I'm Bryce and today we are going to be

covering first nefai chapters one through five now a brief overview of what's

happening in these chapters in first

Nephi chapter one Nephi tells us who he is and he describes a vision that

his father Lehi has where he's brought into the council of God and

he sees God on his throne and he's given a book and he's instructed that the

city of Jerusalem in 600 BC is about to be destroyed and the Jews of his day

mock him and seek to take away his life and Lehi has warned that he must leave.

He must go into the wilderness and leave the city of Jerusalem.

And that's really what happens in Chapter 2 of First Nephi, where in his dream he is told to depart into the wilderness and he was obedient.

And he takes his family with him.

Now there's a little bit of grumbling going on among some of the brothers,

Lehman and Lemuel, but essentially that's what's going on there is that Nephi and Leymie and Sam and Lehi

and Sariah go into the wilderness and they escape the city but then when they get out

Lehi is instructed in a dream

that the record of the Jews or the brass plates

must be obtained and that Nephi and his brothers
