Summary

🎙️ Are you tired of attracting narcissists and emotional vampires who drain your energy and distort your sense of self? Use and abuse your kindness and leave you feeling drained and rejected? This podcast pulls back the curtain on the “Chosen Myth” — the false belief that being endlessly empathetic, forgiving, or spiritually evolved somehow will get you the love you desire, but instead makes you a magnet for broken people. Spoiler: it’s not divine selection; it’s conditioning.

Hosted by Alea Lovely, spiritual teacher and author of Meaningful Manifestation, this series breaks down the energetic and psychological patterns that keep you locked in these cycles. This episode unpacks how narcissists and adjacent types sense and exploit emotional gaps — and how you can close them by reclaiming your boundaries, your intuition, and your power.

Raw. Insightful. Liberating. This isn’t about blaming or shaming — it’s about waking up. It’s time to stop being the chosen one for chaos and start being the chooser of peace.

Hello and welcome to another episode of spiritual shit. I'm your host, Ali Lovely.

0:04.8

We're going to get right into it today. I'm having right in because I have this like immense

0:10.2

amount of download I want to go through and I've been building this as a guide over the course

0:16.7

of the last few months. But this idea of being chosen is very interesting to me.

0:25.5

And the idea of being chosen may be at fault for why we tend to attract people, you know,

0:34.5

like narcissists or those adjacent, that advantage of us because the idea of being

0:41.4

chosen is allowing other people to validate our existence. It makes us feel worthy. It makes us feel

0:52.0

special. And if we are convinced that this ideology of being

0:58.6

chosen is something really important, then we will always be vulnerable to those who wish to take

1:05.2

advantage of us, always. And I think it's because it's actually really readable from far away. Someone who wants to be

1:16.7

chosen will often skirt past their own boundaries. They will often try to make things easier

1:24.4

for other people. They will over function. They'll be hyper nice. They'll over

1:29.9

communicate, over text. They will emotionally caretake too much. Any type of personality that

1:39.1

understands what a void looks like will be attracted to you. Narcissists and energy vampires,

1:46.2

they're not hunting everyone. They're drawn to people radiating that gap energy, that, that void,

1:53.4

the felt sense that something is missing and that someone else can complete them.

1:59.5

Now, uniquely, for those of us who identify as women, have watched from a

2:05.8

cultural standpoint this very perspective. The knight and shiny armor comes and saves us from the

2:12.5

castle, damsel in distress. We have this need of being chosen in some way or another, being the princess,

2:20.9

being the one that's idealized and cannot believe someone chose us. There's a song by a singer

2:28.8

Sasha something. And it's a beautiful song. It's called Why. And her voice is incredible. But there's this

2:36.0

part in the chorus where she says, why is it me? You give all this love to. Why is it me? Oh,
