Summary

In today’s episode, Annie talks with Janey Lee Grace, mom, author, presenter, and holistic living expert who once toured the world as a rock and roll singer. Among other things, Janey Lee talks about how she went from having an off switch for alcohol in her younger days to becoming a daily drinker in motherhood, how she shifted from a cycle of taking breaks from alcohol to making a lasting commitment to alcohol free living, and how medical professionals responded when she voiced concerns about her drinking.

Are you looking to connect with like-minded people? Sometimes maybe you feel like you have all this information from doing This Naked Mind or The Alcohol Experiment, but you’re living in a world where people don’t speak your language.

0:42.0

to speak with you Annie. I'm such a fan and where do I start with my story? Well, I wear

0:48.6

a lot of hats. I'm a presenter and an author and interestingly, a well-being kind of expert

0:56.0

in a verticalis. I've been running a website on holistic living for years and I've written

1:00.6

best-selling books and I'm telling you this because I'm kind of a little bit known in the

1:05.7

whole holistic health world, if you like. And that's why it's so bizarre to me when I look

1:12.1

back now to think that through all of that discussion and all of the stuff I was doing

1:17.5

about living well and eating well and good nutrition and your mindset and all of this

1:23.5

stuff that I've been talking about for years and years and years and years, still I was

1:27.3

to start up and that for me was the missing piece of the jigsaw, I feel like. And it's

1:39.1

all of a sudden, oh wow, now I get it. Now I can start to understand what actually proper

1:45.8

holistic living means because before there was always a gap, there was always something

1:50.5

and it was absolutely the booze. No, that's amazing. So why don't you walk us all the way

1:55.2

back to even early days, teenager childhood, when was your first drink, when you were

2:01.7

introduced to alcohol? Okay, I started fairly late I think. So probably not till I was at

2:09.6

university and late teens, early 20s. And in the early days, I suppose I'm grateful now

2:19.4

to think that I couldn't, I was one of those people that couldn't hold my beer as we say
