Amina and Sarah Said were young teenagers in 2007.

At 18 and 17 years old, both had bright futures ahead of them.

They attended Louisville High School, just 35 minutes outside of Dallas, Texas.

Both girls had big dreams of becoming doctors and pushed themselves academically in the hopes of attending good colleges.

In 2007, Amina secured numerous scholarships to Texas A&M University, one of the most coveted schools in the state.

And both she and her sister had begun dating local boys around the same age.

At the time, they also had jobs at the neighborhood grocery store, Kroger, where they worked as cashiers.

Amina enjoyed clubs and extracurricular activities.

Once she was able to secure a car, she drove herself to her weekly Taekwondo classes.

Sarah loved learning and excelling in school.

But as these young girls' social lives were flourishing, there was a storm brewing at home, one that very few were fully aware of.

The two sisters had a complicated family life, one that was dominated by their father, Egyptian born Yasir Abdel Said.

Yasir was not a fan of the girls' dating.

Firmly believing they needed to wait to date someone who shared their Muslim faith.

He kept a close eye on both.

Often, he would follow them to work and watch their interactions with customers from the parking lot.

Watch them at school and at home.

Using video surveillance at home, he would film them around the house in the backyard and in their bedrooms.

In the following audio, Yasir was parked outside the grocery store where the girls worked.

Alongside Amina and his son Islam, they were watching Sarah as she worked the night shift.

You can hear Yasir say she is smiling at one of the customers, saying she's in trouble. Islam tells him to ground her.
