There's not a lot of national news that tends to emerge from rural Pike County, Ohio,

but April 22, 2016 was very different.

Investigators with local law enforcement discovered a massacre at a compound less than 30 miles

from the Kentucky border.

It was in a cluster of homes belonging to one family, the Rodin family.

On 7 a.m. on that Friday morning, one of the victim's sisters arrived to feed the pets

at one of the homes.

She found two bodies inside and called 911.

Before police showed up, she discovered two more.

Her brother soon arrived and discovered a third crime scene.

Police would find three more victims there.

There another 911 call, a fourth crime scene.

Investigators discovered an eighth body at a residence in nearby Pikeden Village.

The story made national evening news reports.

And another important story tonight.

Police in southern Ohio have a dragnet out for a killer who executed eight members of

one family.

The murderer hunted down the extended family in several homes in a rural county.

Three young children aged three, six months and four days old were unharmed.

Investigators found the four day old in bed with her mother's body.

In all, seven adults and a 16 year old were killed.

It was like something out of a horror movie.
