Hey there people! Thanks for joining me today. What is up? Here's what's up with me. It's Christmas.

0:28.0

That's right, today is Christmas and sometimes I record this podcast earlier than the day I'm going to publish it, but sometimes not.

0:40.0

And today is one of those days when I am recording it and then I'm going to edit it and upload it for you.

0:46.0

So that means I'm at home today having a lovely time with my family and just feeling so blessed and grateful and loved and abundant.

0:58.0

And I hope you are as well. It also means that I have a baby right here making little baby sounds.

1:07.0

And outside my door where I'm recording this podcast, Christmas is going on. My kids are playing with their toys and my husband is trying to set up electronics and install batteries.

1:20.0

And it's a little crazy. So, might hear a little background noise today, but I still wanted to show up for you and talk to you today.

1:29.0

So let's do it. Alright, this is episode number 23. We're talking about follow through today. And I'm going to talk about also the lack of follow through that we sometimes experience in our lives.

1:43.0

And I know from speaking to many of you and from coaching my clients that we can't really frustrated with ourselves and our inability to follow through on the things that we at one point feel really committed to do.

1:56.0

Why is it that one moment we feel so committed and then we so easily given and then we're so hard on ourselves about it.

2:04.0

Alright, so it's also the end of 2015 and nearly the beginning of 2016, which is so exciting.

2:14.0

And so it's that time of year when many of us reflect on the previous year and the things that we did well or the things we didn't do well and then we think about the new year and what we want to do.

2:27.0

And I know some of you don't believe in New Year's resolutions. You believe in setting goals anytime and that's great as well.

2:35.0

And so whether you set New Year's resolutions or you don't that's okay. I think all of us at different times in our lives are making commitments to try to do better. I know that you are trying to do better and trying to do more and become more.

2:50.0

So let's get into it. When we think back about the things that we've done well, which I hope that you'll do. I hope you'll take a moment this week to think about 2015.

3:03.0

What did you really rock out and what are you really proud of? What did you really accomplish? And don't just say I don't know or nothing. You did. I promise.

3:13.0

So take a moment to think about that. I think it's a very useful exercise. Write it down even better. And then allow yourself to feel that gratitude and abundance and to be proud of yourself and to really appreciate and to love yourself.

3:29.0

Many of us after we complete that exercise want to move into then what didn't I do well? Where did I drop the ball? Now while it's one thing to learn lessons from our mistakes or our shortcomings, I don't believe that most of us do that when we reflect back on what we didn't do well.

3:46.0

I think mostly what we do is we feel bad about it. We beat ourselves up. We feel guilty. We make it mean that we did something wrong or that we're not enough, which is not useful.

4:03.0

So I'm going to encourage you that unless you can really look back and just take the lesson from what you didn't accomplish that you wanted to and move on still feeling good about yourself. Then I'm going to suggest you skip that activity because I don't think it's useful. I really don't.

4:23.0

You didn't do anything wrong. You did exactly what you were supposed to do. You did exactly what you needed to do last year.
