talking scripture. I'm Mike and I'm Bryce and today we are going to be talking

about first and second Peter. Peter is the man who was with Jesus when he

raised Jerry's daughter he was there at the man who was with Jesus when he raised Jerry's his daughter.

He was there at the Mount of Transfiguration.

Peter was right there at Guessemini.

Remember, he was the leader of the Jerusalem Council back at acts 15 and Peter was the president of the

church he's a big deal in church history but we don't have a ton of his stuff

Peter is going to be killed in Rome by Nero in the 60s 80s somewhere in that time

period. So Bryce when you look at this what are some things that you want to make sure that you cover when you're teaching a class?

So when you do Paul, you need to understand that he's probably answering a specific question from a specific group.

He's dealing with a local issue. In Peter's epistle, we don't really see that.

He's not responding to the Saints in this area or that area. He's not dealing with local challenges. He's dealing with as the president of the church should a global church a broad range of people and for the most part he knows they're struggling he knows they're being afflicted

that this is a tough time for the church

uh... there's growth and yet there's opposition and there seems to be division as

well and so a lot of what peter's going to do opposition and there seems to be division as well.

And so a lot of what Peter's going to do is to step back and give a broader perspective
