Welcome this is a new Channel 33 podcast that is called the Sports Movie Hall

fam. I'm here with Chris Ryan. We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of

Jeremy Guiren. We thought well why not create a whole podcast series around

this. What we're gonna do is we're gonna concentrate initially I think I'd

movies from the last 20 years which is why it's so good and smart to start with

Jeremy Guiren. So this is the world and there are almost six billion people on it.

When I was a kid there were three. It's hard to keep up. There that's better.

That's America. See America still sets the tone for the world. This was the

modern era of sports movies basically starts here we're gonna cover that in

Moneyball which is the second one we're doing but there's a clear line in the

sand between everything that happened before 1996 and everything after and

this was the first sports movie of its of its kind that wasn't just the

traditional Rocky script. Yeah movies are there are other ones that weren't

exactly the traditional Rocky script. This is like a movie that is set in sports

but isn't a sports movie. Yeah you don't get you get some movies like

slap shot in the years before that you know in the decades before that that are

about lesser less popular sports or the things outside of sports but nothing
